The AU Twins — Kimberly & Tiffany Reis
The AU Twins are identical twin sisters Kimberly and Tiffany Reis, California gold prospectors and content creators who have gained recognition for their gold-mining adventures, metal detecting, and appearances in the prospecting community. Their name is a clever reference to Au, the chemical symbol for gold.
From California Gold Country to Television
The AU Twins became known to a much wider audience through their appearance on The Weather Channel's television series Frozen Gold. Prospecting-community sources identify Kimberly and Tiffany as the AU Twins featured on the program.
Their television exposure helped introduce viewers to two women actively participating in a hobby and industry that has historically been portrayed as male dominated.
California Gold Prospecting
The twins are also active within the California prospecting community. They have participated in the North Yuba River Nugget Hunt, joining other recognizable California prospectors and creators for days of metal detecting, gold panning, sniping, and searching for Yuba River gold. Prospecting reports document their participation in the event in both 2022 and 2023.

You might recognize them from the TV show "Frozen Gold" on the Weather Channel, where they braved the extreme conditions of Greenland for three months, estabilishing a placer mining claim and living the ultimate mining dream.
Their prospecting interests include activities that will be familiar to many CA Gold Diggers members:
Gold prospecting
Metal detecting for natural gold
Gold panning
Searching for placer gold and nuggets
River and bedrock prospecting
Exploring gold-bearing country
Mining claims and mineral exploration
Prospecting with other members of the gold community
Their involvement in California appears to extend beyond occasional visits. Current mining-claim data for El Dorado County includes active claims carrying the AU Twins name, further connecting the name with California's historic gold country.
Part of the Prospecting Community
One thing that stands out about the AU Twins is their connection with other prospectors. They have prospected alongside or participated in events involving creators and miners such as Smithsgold, Two Toes, Bedrock Bennett, Blue Lead Gold Productions, Mountaineer Matt, Top Cat Gold Prospecting, and others.
Mountaineer Matt has also described detecting with the AU Twins regularly, calling them great company while discussing potential prospecting collaborations within the detecting community.
This community involvement makes them especially relevant to people interested in the growing network of California prospecting personalities and content creators.
Women in Gold Prospecting
Kimberly and Tiffany also provide greater visibility for women in modern gold prospecting.
Their adventures demonstrate that today's prospecting community isn't limited to the stereotypical image of an old Forty-Niner with a pick and gold pan. Women are actively metal detecting, locating claims, learning geology, searching for nuggets, operating prospecting equipment, and participating in organized mining events.
Why Follow the AU Twins?
For the CA Gold Diggers community, Kimberly and Tiffany Reis—the AU Twins—are definitely worth following.
They combine California gold prospecting, metal detecting, television exposure, outdoor adventure, and strong connections within the prospecting community. Their participation in events such as the North Yuba River Nugget Hunt also places them alongside many of the other California prospectors featured in this influencer series.
Most importantly, the AU Twins represent the friendship, adventure, persistence, and excitement of modern-day gold prospecting while helping encourage more women to become part of the hunt.
