Subterrix (Research and Analytics Platform)
Updated: Sep 30

Subterrix, created by Ryan Marcus, is a research and intelligence platform built specifically for the metal detecting community—by detectorists, for detectorists.
The platform brings together more than 1.8 million historical site records, 77 million data points, historic maps, aerial imagery, property information, permission-research tools and more in one place. Instead of relying on guesswork, detectorists can thoroughly research, evaluate, and plan a hunt before ever swinging a coil.
At the center of the platform is iLiDAR, Subterrix’s advanced terrain-scanning technology. Unlike traditional flat contour maps, iLiDAR delivers an interactive 3D point-cloud experience at one-meter resolution. Users can zoom, rotate, and explore terrain in real time to identify old roadbeds, cellar holes, foundations, depressions, and other landscape features that may be difficult—or impossible—to see through conventional mapping tools.

Beyond iLiDAR, Subterrix offers a growing suite of research, planning, and field-intelligence tools designed to support every stage of the detecting process. From uncovering overlooked historical locations and analyzing changes in the landscape to researching properties, securing permissions, evaluating sites, and planning more productive hunts, Subterrix brings the information detectorists need into one connected platform.
