Carlos — California Adventure & Travel Creator
Carlos, known on Instagram as @carlos_us_culture_decoder, is an adventure and travel content creator who showcases unusual, exciting, and high-adrenaline experiences across California. His content is geared toward people who want to go beyond the typical tourist stops and discover experiences that reveal a wilder side of the Golden State.
Exploring California Underground
One of the most interesting aspects of Carlos's content is his exploration of California's underground attractions and cavern experiences.
His videos bring viewers into environments far removed from California's beaches and major cities—descending underground where darkness, rock formations, narrow passages, and cave history become part of the adventure.
His viral-style cavern content includes the dramatic “lights out” experience, where artificial lighting is switched off and visitors experience the complete darkness found deep underground.
Adventure Beyond the Tourist Trail
Carlos's content is a great fit for travelers interested in:
California caves and caverns
Underground adventures
High-adrenaline attractions
Unusual California destinations
Road trips and hidden attractions
Outdoor exploration
Adventure travel
Experiences beyond traditional sightseeing
Rather than simply telling viewers that a destination exists, his short-form content helps people imagine what it actually feels like to experience it.
Why Follow Carlos?
Carlos is particularly interesting because California's underground world connects naturally with several of our interests: caving, geology, minerals, mining history, rockhounding and outdoor exploration.
Gold prospectors spend a lot of time looking down at the ground. Carlos's adventures are a reminder that sometimes it's worth discovering what's underneath it, too.
His content can also provide inspiration for the broader California Adventure Passport style of exploring—combining prospecting and rockhounding trips with caves, historic sites, unusual roadside attractions, and other destinations along the way.
